Today at work was pretty non productive. I took one computer apart, put another one back together, threw out 3 cubic metres of manuals, boxes, etc. But that didn't take too long.

What reapply got me about work today was that I worked out how come some users print jobs weren't showing up in print queues, and some were, but both were printing.

Basically it was to do with a flaky print queue listing (lpq) on the unix machine with is the print server for our NT network. lpq would run words together.. ie, username/job id, and as such it would have the wrong number of fields, and samba work bork trying to send it to the client. I had already written some code to clean it up, so I put that in as a wrapper.. unfortunately it would seem that it doesn't like that. When I restarted samba, none of the printers could be accessed. Roling back my changes to smb.conf and a full reboot of the server fixed it, but I'm a little pissed that it didn't work. *growl*. Oh well, I'll try tomorrow :]

Tho not as peeved as those students who had an assignment due at 5PM tonight and the printing system was down till 5:15 :D

Oh well.. I know that I always managed to have my assignments done more than 1 hours before they were due :P

Heheh!

You bastard! (He was catching on)
