I remember what I was going to post..
I did some sys admining for geography last week on Thursday. A bunch of we sys admins have lunch each week and have a bit of a chat. The geog person mentioned that he was having problems with the ps command on their file server machine segfaulting whenever it was run, and how he'ld grabbed another one and put it on there and it worked. Like, *hum*. The ps command is often backdoored when a machine is hacked, cause it shows what programs are running on a computer. So after our lunch, I went back with him and had a look at it. Indeed, it had been hacked. I was able to tell him exactly how they had got in, showed him logs of what they'ld done and also a list of all the MP3s that were now hosted on the system ;) Heheh. They were all crap trance stuff. If they'ld have been anything good, I would have snagged a copy of them before he reformatted it ;)
Anyway, it was fun getting root access to another department's machines ;) hehe.
