Today wasn't too bad.. did some more CCNA learning stuff. I still have a fair bit of stuff to learn.. ahh well. It's not too bad mainly. Umm setup a web folder for Win2k on someone's laptop.. everything except office could save there.. great. Hopefully a reboot at some stage in the future will fix that. Weird. Setup an old computer for some new prof.. spent about 30 mins finding another monitor owned by his research group that worked cause the one the PC had sucked.
After work was better.. ex-coworker Gabby C came round and I showed her my trip piccies and we had a bit of a chat and dinner with mum. Poor Gabby had to work tomorrow from 8 - 6 .. so she had to leave earlyish. We had a good ole laugh at my music collection :) And she was drooling over OSX's dock thingy at the bottom of the screen. Hehe.
Cousin Tim and uncle Rob leaving for Canada on saturday :( Boooooo. Lucky bastards ;>
In other news, I'm looking at getting a new laptop (yes, I know, frosty is only 14 months old.. but it's only 500mhz/66mhz bus and the 10GB drive sucks a bit..). I had planned on waiting a few years.. but I can salary package the laptop now.. meaning they take a little bit of money out of my pay for 9 months or whatever, and that pays for it.. they take it out pre-tax, so the amount of tax I get charged is less, so my savings in tax go towards the laptop.. and since the university officially buys the laptop, then gives it to me, it's tax free, which saves 10% of the price. What am I looking at? A Titanium Powerbook G4, what else? ;) Mmmmm TiBook. Small weekly payment.. paid off in 9 months.. why would I not do this? ;)
Mmmm TiBook. Oh wait, I already said that. I would probably sell zee ibook and the G4 if I got one... well definately the ibook.. If I sell the G4 and the ibook, it gives me back some of the income I would be missing while I was paying off the laptop (tho the most they let you pay is 30% of your pay, so it's not much compared to what I actually spend). I would get a FireWire HDD, keyboard, mouse and an external monitor for the TiBook for home, so I could have two screens ;) I also need to consider I'd be carrying a pretty damn expensive laptop with me everywhere.. never had anyone try to nick the ibook, and they couldn't know I had a TiBook v an iBook in my bag.. but still.
I should probably start saving money tho.. but but.. if I never get the money, I'm not really spending it am I? :D Sigh, working in IT is some tempting .. I sould also get rid of my old Sun gear if I got a TiBook.. I want to start rationalising my computer stuff.. I think I have someone who would take the sun gear so I don't need to worry too much about that.
Oh, you were hoping for a point to this post? :)
Sorry :)
