(no subject)
Hmm did a bunch of stuff to get some labs PCs working today. Bah. Annoying PCs. Looks like at least one of them is fixed I guess .. sigh. I hate intermittant problems that people I trust say exist but which I can't reproduce .. sigh.
Also fixed a few simple problems on someone's system.. but it was weird.. this person was forwarding on email for the old person who did her job.. and forwarding it to an address on another UWA system... and getting bounces back from some weird religious mailing list listserv.. So I send an email myself, typing in the address manually.. and hey presto, it sends to this listserv.. hmm. Look in nicknames.. and there's one for this person, which expands to this listserv .. so send a message to username@blah.uwa.edu.au, and Eudora looks in its address book and sees that username@blah.uwa.edu.au is a nickname for listserv@faithlife.com .. so it sends it there.. WEIRD. So removed the nickname and it worked.. I'm rather baffled as to how this got in there too.. Ahh well.
After work, Sue came over for dinner. Hung out and watched DVDs and stuff :) Poor sue has to be at work at 7AM tomorrow.. damn shift work :(
And tomorrow is the 100th PhD celebrations at work.. w00t.. free food :D I shall be going in a shirt and tie too.. scary stuff :) Might bring camera or something. Ooh on the subject of taking our graphic designer's job.. today I actually did some graphic design.. had to change the lettering on the Logo for our department webpage to say "School of Electrical, Electronic & Computer Engineering" instead of "Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering". Silly university reshuffles ;) So, out with photoshop and my huge font collection ;) I gave the boss about 6 different versions.. some with antialiased fonts, and some different fonts on others.. and the same font on one. I don't think he knows which to use, cause the old one is still on the webpage.
