Unk, busy!
Feb. 15th, 2003 08:36 pmBusy last few days.. was at work until like.. 8:45 last night, got home at 9:30 (not bad bus time).. hadn't been home long, and the power went out, so I went to bed.. apparently came back an hour later, but I was asleep.
In the continuing saga of ADSL being weird, went shopping for a new phone/answering machine thingy with mum this morning.. got a nice one, then went to Currie Hall.
Basically, Currie Hall is paying me,![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
grahame and Mark to upgrade their network from 10M hubs to 100M switches.. all good :) Except, much badness with what was got, so we couldn't do it all, but we have a good halfway measure... they got a router with 100M fibre ports on it.. and 24 fibre patch leads.. except they got the wrong sort, and these ones won't even fit into the router :P Doh. So we couldn't put that in use just yet, but we have it in the rack, and are using another spare switch until then. They also didn't have any crossover ethernet cables.. so we had to borrow some from my work, and grahame and mark's work :P We also unpacked and did a basic setup on 15 cisco switches ;) PIcture of Ciscos. Mmm stack of switches. The stack + router on top bench is worth $30,000. Cheap cheap ($61/port is good)
Currie Hall has a few residence buildings.. we redid the two biggest buildings, which is about 66% of the residents.. so when the new cables arrive, we'll go back and do the rest. Nifty.
Went to visit Campbell afterwards.. saw Simon and Rob for the first time since they got back from Canada. Had pizza. Mmm pizza. Hawaiian of course ;)
