Mar. 23rd, 2007 07:24 amI was going through my Bookmarks, and came across my one for ECU Study Abroad ( http://www.ecu.edu.au/iso/sao/).. I checked the page out.. it's been updated and is a lot nicer than some of the late 90s editions, I can tell you.
Anyway, looking at the pictures across the top, the fourth from the left is one of the stock images of the "everywhere girl". I'd read about the "everywhere girl" before. It's a series of stock photos of some girl on some university campus, that gets used everywhere, by all sorts of companies, especially Dell and Gateway (and indeed, still is). The Inquirer ran a series of articles mentioning where she had been spotted. They tracked down the original photographer, and he couldn't remember who she was, or even where the photo was taken.
It was a huge mystery (ok, minor mystery ;p) until she finally emailed them and said hi. And then became a blogger, with a flickr account, a last.fm account, and a tag cloud! She actually has two blogs.. one about being the everywhere girl, and another personal one. They're actually both pretty interesting reads.
So next time you see the ubiqutous image of the everywhere girl, have a good chuckle, and remember she's not just some ditzy model, she does actually get a chuckle out of how often the picture gets used.
