sentosa island is excellent... and the zoo is fantastic, especially the night safari!
i guess it also helps to have a background in SEA history? hehehe... and little india is funfun!!
alex - if you want a cheap place to stay with loads of great atmosphere, a nice backpackers... try 'the inn crowd' in little india, they have a website around somewhere. i stayed in a private double room there, and although it was pretty basic (had a tv tho!), the place is spotless, and the people that run it rock.
