As usual, microsoft is several years too late with a feature in their install.

Hubby recently had to upgrade due to his motherboard carking it. So naturally he gets a board with SATA and a nice spankin' SATA hard drive. No problems installing windows because the BIOS of the board reports it as IDE to windows xp installation.

Needing to load drivers for SATA (and other devices) from a usb key or optical drive is soooooooooo 2004. As usual, microsoft caught up too late. The motherboard manufacturers have already made allowances for their incompetence.

I paid for a copy of xp home for my desktop and got one 'free' with my laptop. I don't need or want Vista. Once xp is no longer supported I'll be going linux and so will every other machine in my house. I guess linux has until then to become usable for the desktop.
