And re HK vs SG, sure the people are careful to be polite (and speak better English) in SG, HK is very rushed and the people may appear more abrupt, and the translation service for the taxi drivers is one example of just how bad the level of English is. But there just always seems to be so much more to do in HK.

That said I personally prefer BKK - everyone is very polite and friendly, there's a reasonable number of people who speak some English, and there's a ton to do. Best of both worlds. Unless you don't like the weather (I can see some people preferring HK's climate).
