No place like London..

(With apologies to Sweeny Todd).

London has been fun. I like the vibe of the place. But maybe not to live here. We're off to Singapore tomorrow morning on an A380. Hopefully 9V-SKA!. Ahem, sorry.

Caught up with many people ([livejournal.com profile] ambie01, [livejournal.com profile] vegetus, [livejournal.com profile] sparklielizard and [livejournal.com profile] e_bee. Sparklielizard, aka, X-Fish and I have known each other online for 13 years, so it's a bit of a hoot to finally catch up). Also saw my cousin and his wife and baby, as well as Elizabeth's god-father and some friends of Elizabeth's family, who drove into London for the first time in 5 years to pick us up, and finally was able to catch up with a friend from Uni who was over here on holidays. Thankfully for her majesty, he doesn't work for The Attorney General's Department anymore. Or so he says. Didn't get to catch up with some people I would have liked to, but our time here has been pretty full on.

Also went to the Apple store and Hamley's toy stores twice. Went on a Dr Who tour with Elizabeth and [livejournal.com profile] vegetus, which was a bit nutty, but a nice walk and tour of the shores of the Thames. Finally, this evening, we went to the Treasures of the British Library, which has things like 3 copies of the Magna Carta, Gutenburg Bibles, original manuscripts for things like "Tess of the d'Urbervilles" (it has "A daughter" scrubbed out and replaced with "Tess". Hilarious), as well as original drafts of lyrics for so many Beatles songs (Yesterday, Hard days night, etc). It's jaw droppingly amazing how many primary sources for cultural creative icons are in this one room.

Next post will be from Singapore! :D
