Yeah, I'm almost sure I'm on the high side, but better over than under (especially since we can afford it if it was on the high side anyway..) My logic goes like this.. the journey is about 12,000kms all up..
assuming 10km/L = 1200L of fuel x $1.50L for gas (at maximum assuming) = $1800.
34 overnights we'd have to pay for at (again, upper limit, we'd go for motels where possible, but some of the cities we'll be stopping in are likely to be expensive) at $100/night = $3400.
Factor in $800 for random stuff like tolls, oil changes, tyre replacement, wiper fluid, car washes, etc.
