So, I hear on the grapevine, that the switches we installed at Currie Hall over the weekend were $1200 tax-ex each.. (yes, 15 of them). This is a good price. EECE has about 5 of that model, purchased at various times.. we paid $2200 for the first ones, $1800 for the most recent ones.. so $1200 is good. So I calls up the reseller and enquire as to the current price for said luverly Cisco... $900 ex tax!
Long and short of it is, we're getting another 5 of them real soon now. Mmm. And people said it was folly to put all our switches on it's own class-c, 254-host network! I say not! There's currently 20 switches.. and another 5 from our budjet.. then probably another 2 - 4 from the refit budgets for the work going on right now.. and then we will put in a budget item for next year for another.. oh.. 20 to 40 of them ;> At $900 each.. they're cheap as chips, and REALLY useful :) One lab of computers costs $100,000... 40 ciscos .. $37,000 :)
