Apr. 1st, 2005 08:29 pmSo to start with.. the weather has gone to hell these last few days, especially today. I rode to work and it was horrible and rainy and cold and I hated it :( Gave a talk at Computer Science about Spyware, Malware and Why we're ag'in it. It was really well attended.. lots of students, staff etc. People were sitting on the floor in fact :) Heh. I think it went well, and got some feedback from some other people who were there too. I have all the necessary geeky toys for giving these, especially a Bluetooth mobile phone which I can use to control Powerpoint :) As always, didn't do enough hand outs, but since the photocopier kept eating them, it's probably best I didn't try pushing it harder.
Afternoon was mostly following up on some projects (yay..). Found out exactly how we need to tag goods for electrical safety, including 25 new access points which are going in various places around the uni (no, I don't know where). So much paperwork :P Have had a new task foisted on me to polish up a time-tracking app I wrote so that everyone in UCS can use it for logging what they're doing with their days. Yay for TCL/tk. I'd like to find a reference book or something on it, but it's hard to find something. It's a bit like trying to find a book on GWBASIC these days ;)
Rode home in mostly better weather.. probably improved my global karma by hopping off my bike and knocking on someone's door to tell them they'd left their lights on. They seemed quite happy. Yay being a nice person.
Tonight, our rice cooker died. RIP ricey. But it has a 12 month replacement warranty, so we'll be taking it to our nearest service centre, forthwith. In other news, the parts are in for the DVR, so that'll be going in next week. I think we'll be doing a milk-run to drop off the rice cooker, pick up the property condition report and drop off the new agreement, drop off the DVR and then back to work for me. Also, I put in my tax return, so I should be getting the money back in 7-10 days. Yay money. I'm pondering buying a slightly dead ibook off someone I know, repairing it and selling for profit. I like hardware stuff :) My cousin Steve is apparently in hospital with appendicitis, so I probably won't be able to get his for a while ;p I should see how he's going at some point.
Yeah, random ramble. Sorry :)
