So Elizabeth's PC is sick. The sound device intermittently stops working. Yay! I suspect when the fan died on the southbridge there was some horrible thermal event. Anyway, it was a S939 DDR1 AMD motherboard, and while we could probably find another one, we're looking at replacing some bits of it, including the PATA hard drive it had.

We're looking at this:

Asus P5K-EPU Intel P35 1333 MB $159.00
Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 45nm $229.00
2048Mb 2Gb DDR2 800 Kingston RAM $54.00
500Gb WD SATA2 GP 16M HDD $129.00

Because we're somewhat hippies, the 500GB hdd is one of WD's "Green power" drives, and the motherboard is a special ASUS high power efficiency one, and the CPU is 45nm process, so it emits less heat so requires less cooling.
