Mum's train was delays this morning, so I stayed home late for no reason really.. mm getting to work at 11:15AM :D Met up with pennae in the afternoon and had some food and got my bt848 TV Tuner back from her.. yay! Set it up this evening... uh yeah, took a while. I'm currently using btwincap and dscaler from sourceforge.. yay for all [L|]GPL programs! They're actually pretty good. Well, sorta.. dscaler 4alpha won't detect channels, but 3 will, so I'm using that.. and it won't record to a mpeg stream apparently.. which would be cool. But it does do full screen, which is cool :D

And it's freeee!

Tomorrow I have a meeting in the morning with someone from Ipex about getting some servers from them for next year. New karri/bluegum/us2/odin's plus getting a quote for the mongo 4-way Xeon sooner rather than later. Hehe. 10:30.. must remember :>

apparently mpeg ones are only the super duper expensive ones... otherwise .avi :( im gonna go for the usb one i think!

Ya, it wasn't easy tho.. it took a good 2.5 hours solid working on it.. Stupid windows! When it was on my mac it was easy :P

The expensive ones do MPEG in hardware, but with your exceedingly fast desktop, it shouldn't be a problem to do it in software, it's just a matter of finding the right software to do it.

Uh also, there was a 30cm black audio cable with the card which would be kinda good to get back at some point.. no rush, as I'm currently using a 2M one.. it's just a tad excessive ;)

Oh, and I also had to go thru a bunch of technical sites to work out which of the 7 versions of PAL australia uses (PAL-B apparently), and then get out a mirror to find out which tuner was on the card and then work out which one the program called it..

converting them is an absolute pain for anything longer than 10mins!!!!!! aaarrrghhhhh. had to do that a few times cos my editing software wont let me edit .avi files - the only software i can find to do that uses wmp, which keeps crashing on my machine! its crazy stuff

and i totally forgot about that cable ;P oops!
