Mildly peeved at guild catering, mostly on behalf of liz, since I don't actually like vinegar, but it's more the principle of the thing. They've taken away the free vinegar bottle in the guild Cafe, and you now need to buy the 30c tiny squeezy packs of it. Do they think people won't notice this? Do they think it will increase their popularity? It really bugs me when companies do stuff like this just because they can.
On a slightly more interesting note.. I've noticed someone's been using the domokun image off my website as an avatar in some nike enthusiast web forum. Normally I don't mind this sort of thing, but this guy's grammar is horrible. Using the wonder of mod_rewrite and apache, any referrer URL with "nike" in it to anything in my /pictures directory will redirect to a reebok logo. Because I find it funny ;)
Also today, I got hands on with an Intel Developer Transition Kit Mac. The thing flies! 1GB RAM, 3.6ghz P4. OMG FAST I could have palmed the DVD of the installer, but I thought it best not to ;) It looks like a G5 from the outside, and the case is basically the G5 one. The FCC compliance number on the bottom is for the G5, but there's also a "APPLE DEVELOPER SERVICES" or something asset ID sticker. On the back of it, the bluetooth and wifi antenna ports are blanked by plastic, so are the optical 5.1 in/out, Firewire 800 and modem ports. The monitor connects via a weird DVI-over-AGP card and the socket on it is DVI-D only. Safari's browser ID still says PPC :) ioreg actually still outputs stuff too, which I thought it wouldn't. All in all, fun :D

Date: 2005-07-26 11:32 pm (UTC)In all seriousness though, Apple isn't too bad.. digital camera companies on the other hand.. "oh, here's your 5 megapixel digital camera, and a 16MB memory card, which can fit about.. oh.. 8 photos on it"
