Whee had a geeky night tonight. Went round to
drabbo's place to fix her eMac, her wireless network, and give her new iBook some lovin'. In return, she kindly made me and Liz dinner. The eMac was a nice cascade of problems.. the power had gone out while she was using it. The machine wouldn't switch on because the PMU had crashed. Once the PMU was fixed, it couldn't read the boot info.. reset PRAM.. then it couldn't find the "startup folder" once that was fixed, the System kernel was in a different place, so again it didn't work. Anyway, finally all fixed :P
Then the wireless network.. Kim had reset the AP to try to get the iBook working. This meant the AP and the router had the same IP address. Wups. Fixed that, then worked out that the AP only works in NAT mode.. so I set it to a different subnet to the router's, then plugged everything into the AP. Crazy stuff. Reminds me why I don't buy Excel (that, and the 5 x Excel APs at EE that sucked wang)
Showed off Dashboard and Spotlight. Upgraded the eMac to 10.4 too. Didn't check if that had fixed a long standing issue with her computer being unable to export from iMovie. Wups. Hopefully it did, but it hasn't been the end of the world.
Anyway, yay macs.

I read your post this morning from my ibook while sitting in my bedroom.. aahhhh bliss! And then I thought I should check on the iMovie exporting situation.
The short of it: It's not fixed.
However, I remembered what the website said about the version of iMovie, and the iMovie on there is v4.0 rather than the version on my ibook which is v6.0 or somesuch. SO I plan on upping the iMovie version on the eMac and testing it then :D ... now that I know how to do the nifty firewire cable thingimedoo that is!
THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
