Indeed. I haven't played WoW, since I know I've repeatedly got hooked on MUDs and MUSHs over the previous 13 years and just know that I'd get addicted. I keep considering the 14 day trial, just to say I've played it, but I know it isn't worth the risk.

Still, I spend around an hour a day playing around half a dozen online management games...

I think that part of his commentary had to do with the insane level of time people spend making sure the guild runs so that people can do the above. This includes (but certainly is not limited to) dealing with shiatty, time-wasting internal politics and wrangling over what takes place in a virtual game world.
