Dear Europe,
DRM is a stupid idea, but we wanted to sell music, so we had to put it in place. Our lawyers say we can't share our DRM if we want to keep selling music, and it looks like Microsoft's and Sony's told them the same thing, which is why they don't share the Zune or Sony Marketplace DRM. Please stop picking on the iTunes Music Stores's DRM and saying it restricts consumer choice. We don't like the fact that we have to have it, but we've been forced to by a bunch of European companies. You want to provide consumers choice? Look in your own backyard at the companies that make us have it.
Love,
Steve Jobs.
