[livejournal.com profile] lizbyrd had been asking me to make something out of the acrylic I bought for the photoframe to hold down paper on the piano.. the idea of cutting so much with the dremel-type tool frankly didn't thrill me with joy. So last night we went to Innaloo, and as well as other shopping, I bought a jigsaw! Mmm power tools! I also got a special blade for cutting plastic, which leaves it quite smooth, and a sanding block for more smoothing, and another 600x900x3mm sheet of acrylic. The jigsaw cuts through the stuff like a cold knife through rather solid butter.

The problem as now presents itself, is where to use it. I used it in the laundry, with the washing machine as a bench (with my handy ikea pine chopping board as a work surface), but the small pieces of plastic that get chipped away go everywhere, and it's pretty freaking loud. But I don't have anywhere else, so I suppose it will have to do.

Wait... you are using the jigsaw on top of the washing machine??!!!

2 chairs and a plank out in the backyard could work.. and be less expensive if you slip and wreck the washing machine!!

Well, I'm using it with the work hanging over the edge of the washing machine, so there's plenty of space for saftey, but yeah, I'm thinking of something to do for the back yard or something..
