Ok, so a few comments were made about the missing mac. For those not in the know:
The "missing mac" is a machine that the Apple cargo cult faithful will deliver once enough of the current machines have been purchased. They believe it's such a major oversight that it will be released any day now. Generally thought to be a Core2Duo, up to 8GB RAM, 2 x hard drive slots, upgradable graphics, etc, all for around AU$1500. Various interpretations consider it will be a standard ATX motherboard, so it could be put in a random PC case, etc.
Anyway, suffice to say, yeah, that'd be nice, but it's never coming out. Steve Jobs said just yesterday (and I'm paraphrasing slightly) that they don't want huge market share, they just want machines that they are proud to recommend to their family and friends. There's a lot of cheap incomplete crap out there on the PC market, and they won't want into that game. They want quality and style.
Such is the price for dancing with the devil. Sometimes he'll jab you with a pitchfork.

Apple is a giant corporation, just like any other. Their lack of QA on their recent hardware offerings (especially the MB and MBP, although I wouldn't be surprised if the fancy new iMac had some major problems) is a clear display IMO that they are more concerned with market share and making the most money they can from each sale.
But you already know how I feel about Apple and Stevie. :)

Date: 2007-08-08 05:25 pm (UTC)When Stevie posted his "open letter about DRM", the fanboys were salivating over what a great guy Stevie is. They're so blinded by the Cult of Mac(tm) that they didn't see his letter for what it was - nothing more than a blatant, but very calculated and well thought out, PR move.
