Ok, the server mentioned here is having problems with its disks.. so we bought a new batch of slightly different disks. The manual leads to believe that as long as the new disks are larger, they should be able to hot swapped one at a time for the old ones, just with the extra space wasted...
Right, good theory, except it doesn't work that way, does it? blaah. Looks like I'll have to take all the data off it, then put it back on.. all 55GB of it. We have 2 x 20GB drives spare.. and this will need three :P blah. blah blah :) I'm sure I'll find them, but it'll be a pain in the butt, and what happens if the new drives don't work at all, even in a rebuilt RAID set? that will be most annoying.. I hate stuff like this. It takes sooooo long. In this instance, it's copying 55GB of stuff off the disks onto the spare disks (1 hr?) .. put in new drives.. 10 mins.. RAID join new drives.. oh.. about 5 hours probably? Format disks, 1 hour, start recopy of the 55GB.. another hour. Annnnooooooyyyyying! That, and playing with 560GB of HDD's that aren't mine! gah! :)
A certain person's domain was due today, so I got an auto email saying it would expire in 24 hours.. with no details of how to pay for it again. Got that sorted out tonight tho, and got someone else to pay for it in exchange for me doing some upgrades to a few CGI scripts I wrote almost exactly a year ago for http://www.agentsite.net/clients/cbsmith ... They got a good deal ;p hehe. So, like, Merry Christmas
