Am in Tokyo. What's today? Tuesday? I got here Sunday. Straight off the overnight flight, went to hotel, dropped off stuff, showered, changed, [livejournal.com profile] lizbyrd and I met [livejournal.com profile] sayanprince at Ueno station, then went to the Tokyo Game Show. Met up with [livejournal.com profile] velithya, [livejournal.com profile] drayke_, [livejournal.com profile] reisha and [livejournal.com profile] k_chan009 and spent the day there before heading off to Ikebukuro for an awesome meal (including happy bread!) and then did some Karaoke. Awesomeness++.

Regrouped on Monday morning at Akihabara for breakfast, did a bit of wandering (but don't worry, I'll be back!) then headed off to Ueno. Wandered round the park for a bit, I showed off the Rodin works, including the Gates of Hell and the Thinker. Headed off to Sunshine 60. The fangirls had fun in a big store called Animate, then it was time for the Perthites to head home. We caught the train to Tokyo station with them, and said our goodbyes there. Then Liz, Meia and I headed to Shinjuku for some wanderings. Tokyu Hands = ♥

Today, we're off to Tokyo Disneyland Sea.

Also, quick rant, but why can't you use credit cards everywhere in a country that has very few ATMs that work with foreign cards and that close at 5PM anyway?

Argh! Yes! I spent a total of six hours in Japan, an annoying chunk of which was spent repeating this conversation: "Visa?" "No Visa!" (Also wandering around with some schoolgirls to look for an atm, and of course once we found it it wouldn't accept my card)
Eventually found a lunch place that accepted it, the wait did make the eel extra tasty :)

I found one finally at a 7-11 about 1km down the street (away from the ryokan). It mentions it is proud to be part of the "Yokoso Japan!". Allowing Foreigners to get money out of ATMs at times outside 8AM-8PM is a surprisingly foreigner unfriendly aspect that I was glad to see the good people of Seven Bank resolve.

A day late, but happy birthday anyway.
