By 10:30 today, I spent $87,000 of the University's money.

$27,000 on 3 x sun servers with a fibre channel switch
$60,000 on 22 x iMacs + 5 x MacBook Pros

Mmm money.

This if of course nothing compared to friends who have recently bought a house, but still.

Also nothing compared to a networking purchase, try buying half a dozen 6509s fully populated Sup720-3BXLs, line cards and DFCs. You can also do this with other people's money. :-)
