Dear iPhone users,

[Poll #1362171]

Regards,
Alex.

Yes, I am getting an iPhone. But work is buying it and I'm paying the monthly phone bills. No plans, since I'll be canceling service in June.

I've only paid two bills so far, so this might not be terribly helpful, but here you go:

December-January: 98 MB
January-February: 120 MB
February-March: 76 MB and counting

So I guess you could say I average 100-115 MB a month. I use my iPhone for browsing a TON, and I have like six email addresses configured on it, including two push services (Exchange and Yahoo!).

Same here!

But I'm thinking I should start watching more YouTube on my phone instead of downloading it first and then syncing. I'm not using my data allowance!

Although I have found out that it will work in a wireless broadband modem...

I'm on AT&T - there isn't a data limit, is there? Or isn't it like 5GB or something ridiculous?

In Australia some of the iPhone plans have as little as 100MB/month

And on AT&T, if you leave the USA, you pay a c/kb rate immediately, unless you sign up for their an international data package which is 100MB/month and a lower c/kb rate for excess.

I'm with Optus in Aus... 500mb is my limit, and I don't get anywhere near it. Although, now I don't have WiFi at home (switched to wireless broadband) I've been using data on my phone a lot more. It'll be interesting to see what this month brings bill-wise!

It's damn hard to tell how much I use. I've got a 500MB quoto, but I don't use anywhere near that. I think it's closer to 120MB a month.

Optus' usage stats are crap. If you've got a choice I'd suggest going through one of the onsellers of optus' network - they can't have worse usage tools than optus do.

I'm usually leaching off my connection at home (and at half the cafés I visit), but my first fifteen days Optus claims I used 66MB, and 155MB for the second month.

ETA - I never use youtube, but I do use safari for LJ and clients for twitter, facebook and google maps.

because iphones suck I of course have a googlephone but I imagine it is much the same or higher in regards to net usage (browsing, email, downloading all the 100% free third party apps, youtube, maps etc...)

So far, according to my netmeter app, I've used 100MB of non-wifi data in the 2weeks I've had it. Mind you, I haven't really used youtube or downloaded apps when off of wifi.

Mine's a work phone so receives all my artwork files and factory prep files to review. Even then with games, apps, itunes, youtube, etc... I barely see 100mb a month according to the iPhone's onboard usage stats.

My limit is 800mb, so yeah not to much an issue while in Aus.

When outside Aus, TURN IT OFF. Is all I can say. This is from experience.

There is an option on the iphone to disable all data use when not on the primary network. I have turned on this option, so I only use data if I'm on the AT&T network (where it is unlimited). As to data volume, no idea, being unlimited I've never checked.
