Calm cometh before the storm

Ok, so my last post was just a tad optimistic. When I wrote that, my entire face pretty much was anesthetised. Like, I went to scratch my ear, and could barely feel it. Weeird. And then the anesthetic started wearing off, and it was all far from nice. Zee wounds hurt different amounts depending on what sort of facial expressions you have at the time. Ok, well when enough anesthic's worn off to have pain, but not enough to have movement in your face, this is nice, not so much. Especially since my face and tounge were stuck in a very contorted position. I was quite distressed over this. One of the 2 hour periods of life I'd rather forget, but I'll write here anyway ;)
Right now, I'm not actually feeling too bad at all. There's a little bit of discomfort, but over the counter pain killers are stopping that from being too much of an issue. It's actually hurting less than a few times when they were coming thru, and a whole snot load less than the two times I got infections under the gums.
Want to see my stitches? :) click here. No really, you probably don't. There are stiches and a bit of blood. Up close.
Slightly unrelated, there's a before shot of just me. Mmmm Canon G2. On the subject of digital cameras, the anesthetist, dental surgeon and I were talking about them as I went out to it. I was wearing my Kodak developer's group TShirt. The dental surgeon mentioned he had a Nikon Coolpix 880, and I mentioned I actually had a G2 these days. He said "ooh 4 megapixels" and the anesthtitist said he was pondering getting one. Then he asked me the specs of it, and I realised.. wooooah.. I don't remember the specs of it, and said "woah.. drugs are working, I have no idea"
And that was the end of Alex's conciousness to things said in the world around him for the next 40 minutes. I remember a little bit of pushing and pulling, and a few injections, but didn't actually mind. Apparently whatever they gave me via IV numbs pain a bit too, which was good.
Hehe.. more amusingly, I also remember that during a few times when he was pulling on stuff, his assistant held onto my head quite tightly... by pulling it against her chest. Mmmm like, ok, I don't know her name, but she was about 26 and pretty cute. If she needed to pin my head against her boobs, well so be it. It certainly distracted me even more from what was going on. I remember thinking "what's that on my face... oooooooh, I know what *that* is". Heheh. Most amusing.
For those of you interested, I do look a bit like a chipmunk :P Just call me Alvin. I'll take some photos in the morning
*hugs* to all :)

Date: 2002-03-12 11:11 am (UTC)And SOME of us didn't get any head-to-boob action when WE had OUR wisdom teeth out, so that's a little bonus, I guess. Hehehe. :)
