Apple share price

So, in August 2002, I bought a Powerbook G4. I paid the then-insane amount of AUD$7000 for it. This was roughly equivalent to USD$3815.75 at the time.
If I had instead purchased Apple shares at then-price of USD$6.985 each, I would have got 546 shares.
If I sold those shares last week, they would have been worth USD$92,867 (AUD$103,185).
Eh bien, however. If I'd spent my AUD$4000 on Apple shares in November 1997, when I bought a Performa 5500/250, when everyone was saying Apple was in its death throes, I would have got 784 shares at $3.1875 each. Those shares would now be worth AUD$148,264, or a 3700% profit.
If I'd bought AUD$3500 of Apple shares in May 06 when I bought the Macbook Pro, I would have got 38 shares, which would today be worth AUD$7177

Date: 2007-10-15 08:53 am (UTC)I used to work in an investment/share broking company, and I watched as Aristocrat Leisure went from $6 to $0.60C overnight (yep - they lost $2 billion over night or something). If I had bought 1 thousand shares for the bargain basement price of $600, I would now have shares worth $130,000. (of course, I would have probably sold them when they were worth about $7/share..).
If I'd bought 10,000 (which I could have at the time) for $6000... well, work it out.
I feel your pain :)

Date: 2007-10-16 12:16 am (UTC)On another note Mr Ducky, would you have any suggestions for somewhere my company can rent a server based in aust? Looking at having over 20gig in space and all the usual fruit to make it run and sell off space.
I had a look at Ilisys but 1gig is not going to cut it.
